Achilles completes purchase of Australian contractor compliance firm Cm3
The supply chain risk and assurance business has closed its acquisition of the Australian contractor management software firm from Wesfarmers, following earlier deals in Spain, the United States and Argentina.
Supply chain risk management and assurance business Achilles has completed its acquisition of Cm3, an Australian contractor management and compliance software business, from the Blackwoods Group, part of Wesfarmers' Bunnings division, the company said on 2 November.
Completion followed regulatory approval from Australia's Foreign Investment Review Board, Achilles said. The deal was first announced on 24 July 2026, when Achilles said it expected to close in the coming months subject to regulatory approval.
Neither Achilles nor Wesfarmers disclosed a purchase price. Wesfarmers Limited said in July that it expected to record a gain on sale on completion of the transaction.
Sebastien Roussotte, CEO of Achilles, said: "Cm3 is a highly respected business with strong customer relationships and deep expertise in contractor management and workplace safety."
The business
According to Achilles, Cm3 has supported organisations across Australia and New Zealand for more than 18 years in managing contractor compliance, workplace health and safety and operational risk. Cm3 describes itself as a contractor safety and compliance management partner for hundreds of clients.
Its customers span utilities, manufacturing, finance, property and facilities management, healthcare and education, Achilles said.
Cm3 will continue to operate with its existing teams, platform and services, according to Achilles. The combined business now supports more than 1,000 buying organisations and hundreds of thousands of suppliers and contractors worldwide, the company said.
Achilles said it plans to apply its Smart Achilles AI capabilities across the combined business to simplify processes, reduce administrative effort and improve risk management. In July it said the deal would expand its capabilities in contractor compliance, supplier assurance and continuous supply chain intelligence.
Andrew Bray, Blackwoods Group Chief Executive Officer, said at the time of the July agreement that the sale positioned the business for its next phase of growth and that Cm3 team members would join a global platform with a substantial track record in the sector.
The buyer
The Cm3 deal follows a series of Achilles acquisitions in Spain, the United States and Argentina between 2024 and 2025, according to the company.
Achilles' international growth is backed by Bridgepoint, which it describes as its majority shareholder. Bridgepoint partnered with the business in 2021 through its lower middle-market franchise, Bridgepoint Development Capital. Bridgepoint Group reports $98bn of assets under management.
Matt Legg, Partner at Bridgepoint, said: "This acquisition marks another important milestone in building the company's global scale, and will strengthen its presence in Asia-Pacific".
Achilles was established in Norway in 1990, originally to help the offshore oil and gas industry meet health and safety requirements, and says it is now active in more than 140 countries from 23 locations worldwide.
The completion announcement was datelined Abingdon, UK and Melbourne, Australia, some three months after the 24 July agreement.
